Wellington Youth Network is about connecting those people who are working with and supporting young people in a range of settings, as youth workers, social workers, educators, counsellors, administrators, volunteers, etc.We are proud to be linked to NZAAHD and the National Youth Workers Network Aotearoa- Mark Farrar is currently our Wellington rep on their National Council and Rod Baxter is their Chair. How it worksYou get out of it what you put into it… we have monthly networking meetings, these meetings are at 10am on the first Thursday of each month, meetings are 90min max, the host facilitates, every second meeting is at WCC, all meeting will follow a similar structure. We host occasional seminars, workshops and training events, the network is facilitated by four agencies BGI, ZEAL, the Ministry of Youth Development and Wellington City Council who have within their youth framework a commitment to support for the youth development sector in the City. Email youth@wcc.govt.nz. Our neighbouring Councils support similar youth networks. We do e-news, from a list of people who’ve opted in to get e-mails and we don’t send attachments. Old emails are archived on our wiki; http://wellingtonyouthnetwork.wikispaces.com/If you are new to the City, looking for work or just checking out the sector then scroll through the archive- you’ll get a sense of what happens in our youth development sector. If you are looking for work you may see some jobs listed- these are the ones that our members send out to us, a great place to start would be the website ’stuff’ as well as other sector champions NZAAHD who have a membership and awesome sector news e-mail.
